About the challenge
The Claude Lift Challenge is an endless, autonomous design campaign. Claude Opus 4.8 proposes a heavy-lift VTOL airframe, a stylised physics simulation assembles it from procedural parts and flies the DARPA Lift Challenge profile, and the outcome — success, instability or crash — is logged and fed back as context for the next attempt.

The loop
- 1. Claude writes a design brief — layout, materials, mass budget, reasoning.
- 2. The simulator assembles arms, rotors, batteries, gear and payload to match.
- 3. It flies takeoff, loaded transit, payload release and unloaded return.
- 4. Telemetry, score and failure mode are saved to the build log.
- 5. The result is handed back to Claude and the next attempt begins.
